On the restaurant’s menu, domestic fish plays a starring role – especially lake trout, which is caught right in the nearby Weissensee. For chef Hannes Müller it’s all about regionally influenced cuisine. His exceptionally elegant culinary creations are full of flavours and show how meticulous his cooking style really is.
Techendorf am Weißensee area
Peacefully situated at Lake Weissensee, hotel restaurant Die Forelle is the perfect starting point for your active holiday. At 930 meters, this is the highest resort lake in the Alps. In summer, this area offers plenty of opportunities for diving, water skiing, and angling. You can also go mountain biking, hiking, and Nordic walking. In winter, when the lake is frozen, you can ice skate or speed skate on its natural ice. Nearby the lake there’s also a small family ski area. If you want to embark on an excursion, we recommending the Naggler Alm (a mountain hut where they serve organic dishes). For shopping local delicacies, visit Martin Müller for Weissensee fish (white sea fish), Herwig Ertl in Kötschach-Mauthen, or Kuenz distillery in Dölsach.

Whether you’re on a summer vacation or winter getaway, this family-run establishment provides you with all the relaxation you could wish for. The building was founded at the end of the 17th century. Originally functioning as a small farm, the inn opened its first guest rooms in 1905. Today, this 4-star wellness hotel is a contemporary place where you can enjoy every imaginable comfort. The hotel rooms are beautifully furnished with natural wood, and from the balcony, you have a stunning view of the lake. In addition, the hotel offers a private beach, a modest wellness area with a sauna and a steam bath, and a bright relaxation room that also looks out over the lake.
