The restaurant’s name refers to the local scenery and inhabitants of this secluded spot. It’s this wild nature that chef Klemens aims to translate to his exciting cuisine and rich dishes. Inspired by the harmonious interplay between nature and mankind, this chef is on a mission to showcase only the best that nature has to offer.

In Rau restaurant, chef Klemens Gold (ehem. Schraml) showcases a simple yet complex craftsmanship. He likes to do things differently. While creating his recipes and dishes, he’s not only concerned with improving the taste and texture: his goal is to refine the base product itself as well. Chef Gold (ehem. Schraml) is very much aware of how important it is to take the origin of the produce into account. He always considers how, when and where the food is grown, as these factors play a big role in the gastronomic experience. His unique nature-based cuisine revolves around seasonal products. As a result, his gastronomic creations are full of aroma, taste and texture. An unparalleled treat for your palate.

Großraming & surroundings

Rau is uniquely located on the edge of the Kalkalpen National Park in Austria. Covering 51,460 acres, this impressively large park opened in 1997 and includes Central Europe's largest forested area. Here, you can visit panorama view tower Wurbauerkogel, near Windischgarsten. The park also offers various trails and opportunities for you to go hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.
