World Water Day 2025: Preserving Our Planet’s Most Precious Resource
Every year on March 22, the world comes together to celebrate World Water Day, an important observance that highlights the value of fresh water and calls for sustainable water management. Since its inception in 1993, this day has urged global action to address the growing water crisis, advocating for universal access to clean water and emphasizing the need for conservation.
JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs is committed to sustainability and recognizes the hospitality industry’s role in sustainable water use. In partnership with Vaider Group - Hrastnik1860, tangible steps have been taken to reduce waste and promote clean water awareness through innovative initiatives.
As part of this collaboration, JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs and Vaider Group - Hrastnik1860 have worked on an initiative to promote the use of tap water in fine-dining restaurants.
"Water, the source of life that we had to capture in a bottle in order to start appreciating it again..."

This philosophy inspired the creation of the RE◦ Water bottle, a specially designed glass bottle that not only emphasizes the importance of clean drinking water but also eliminates the need for single-use plastics. Made from fully recyclable glass, the RE◦ Water bottle has received international recognition, winning the prestigious Red Dot Award for its elegant design while remaining practically usable in daily operations at JRE restaurants.
By adopting reusable glass bottles, JRE restaurants eliminate the waste of approximately 9,400 single-use water bottles per year, ensuring that access to clean drinking water is respected and preserved. This initiative has expanded far beyond Slovenia, with nearly 400 JRE restaurants across Europe now using the RE◦ Water bottle. It has become a symbol of commitment to sustainable gastronomy, setting a benchmark for the industry.
